In-Person Electronic Notarization (IPEN) occurs when the borrower, notary and closing attorney are in the same location and the borrower applies electronic signatures to documents.

A notary is allowed to electronically notarize the documents without any paper involved.

Per the state of North Carolina, only electronic notaries can use EscrowTab's IPEN solution.

Here's how it works:

Upload.

Title agents upload closing documents into the EscrowTab platform.

Assign.

Title agents assign the documents to the closing attorney. The closing attorney is notified and the documents are immediately ready for signing.

Sign and notarize.

A closing attorney meets the borrower in person for the closing.

Documents are signed on the tablet with the borrower's unique handwritten signature on every page requiring a signature. Real time document edits can be made during the signing, just like paper.
